On a lone night in the spring of 2010 - newly moved into my first solo apartment, single, and slightly scared of all the free time and space I seemed to have - I recorded myself dancing and lip-syncing to “You Sexy Thing” by Hot Chocolate. I then posted it to an anonymous YouTube channel and from that point forward it became a thing I did.
Since then, I’ve continued to make videos at various times and for various reasons: when bored and lonely at night, when inspired by a friend, when the mood hits, when there’s something non-verbal in me that needs to be spoken.
I record and edit all the videos, usually on my phone’s video camera or on my laptop, with occasional assistance from loved ones for the filming.
When not dancing in random places, you’ll probably find me doing my thing as a holistic health counselor, in sessions with clients or leading workshops. My ever-unfolding creative journey has been an essential part of my own healing process and it shows up often in the counseling work I do. There’s nothing more fulfilling to me than guiding another person in discovering their own creative impulses.
I see an artist in everyone.
